My Entrepreneurship Story

My entrepreneurship story started when I recorded a video doing my makeup and uploaded it on YouTube. Then, I was contacted by someone who was in a committee for a statewide pageant. She asked me to do makeup for the pageant contestants in 2017. I was able to provide my services for two of the contestants, and one of them won fan favorite and the other won the winning title! In the following year, I was asked to come back to be a makeup artist. In the picture above, she is a client I had for the pageant in 2018. She won third place! I charged to do the makeup services, and I still charged people $50 in between my time with the pageant.

The reason I enrolled in ENT3003 is to learn how to improve my entrepreneurship skills. I would like to develop my skills more to develop a business in the future.

  1. That’s very impressive that your marketed skill alone was able to garner you some business. And not only that, but it was accredited in the pageant. I am hoping you can provide a link to the video, so I could see just how much the video spread on the internet. I’m curious if you make a lot of makeup videos, or other videos on youtube.

  2. Hi Cathy!
I loved reading your entrepreneurship story and I find your makeup service to be very impressive, seeing its success in the pageants. YouTube is such a great platform for marketing and getting your product or business out there. Also, I think your intentions of taking the class is great, and I wish you and your business the best of luck in the future! It looks like you're off to a great start.

  3. Awesome that you where able to capitalize off your skill like that. I've always thought that so many skilled people miss out by not having a youtube page or Instagram account dedicated to their talents. You never know who might stumble across your page. Turning something you love into a money making opportunity is always very gratifying.
